David Bookbinder (Chairman)

David Bookbinder is Chairman of Derbyshire First Investments Limited, (formerly Derbyshire Enterprise Board Limited), a position he has held since its establishment in 1987.

David was Leader of Derbyshire County Council for eleven years. He has been directly involved in the development of major industrial estates, factory building programmes, business assistance schemes, promotional events (both in the UK and overseas), the development of twinning agreements and trade exchanges with overseas countries and also led the negotiations to bring Toyota to Derbyshire.

Throughout his career David has developed a wide range of personal contacts within both the public and private sectors, in the East Midlands, UK and overseas where his development of twinning and trade agreements with Shanxi Province in China has led to the creation of the first China Britain Investments Limited office in the UK.

Eric Cobb CPFA, FRSA

Eric Cobb, a Chartered Public Finance Accountant, was County Director and County Treasurer of Derbyshire County Council prior to his retirement. He was actively involved for many years in the investment policy of the County's Superannuation Fund, whose performance was the best in the country.

Active all his career in the accountancy profession, Eric is also a previous National President of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and a past member of the CCAB Auditing Practices Committee, covering the whole accountancy profession. He has been associated with Derbyshire First Investments Limited since its inception in 1987 and is Chairman of Rosehill Business Centre Limited.

Melvyn Faulkner

Melvyn Faulkner was appointed as a Director of Derbyshire First Investments Limited in October 2000 and has extensive experience of all Health and Safety matters, particularly in the construction industry.

Since operating as a Health and Safety Consultant, Mel has co-ordinated the health and safety function within his client companies and this has included the design and implementation of training programs, review of existing company safety procedures and the provision of health and safety advice. He has been employed by a number of major client organisations, including Alfred McAlpine Civil Engineering Limited, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Derbyshire County Council and Royal Mail.

Andrew Hay FCA

Andrew Hay qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 and has spent many years working in industry in senior general management positions. He has managed businesses in a number of differing sectors: oil and gas exploration services, food and catering, aviation services and automotive engineering.

He was part of the management team of The Bricom Group when it structured its management buy out from British and Commonwealth Holdings plc in 1988, and then in 1995 led the successful MBO of The Tricom Group from its previous Italian owners.

Andrew, now based in Derbyshire, has a wealth of international experience having previously lived overseas whilst working for several UK and North American groups.

Malcolm Lindley FCA

Malcolm Lindley is a Chartered Accountant with considerable Director level experience in industry and commerce.

He has held senior Director positions in the engineering industry for the last 25 years, being initially Finance Director of companies within the John Brown plc, Trafalgar House plc and Kvaerner AS group, then more recently UK & European Managing Director of Wahlco Engineered Products Group Limited. He currently operates as a consultant, both in the UK and Europe and is a past President of North Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry

He was President of the Sheffield & District Society of Chartered Accountants in 1992/93 and is on their national committee which reviews its members ethical problems in industry and commerce
